Frugal January

So here we are, 2013. Long month financially, paid on the 21st December so caution required with spending.

Decided to have a frugal month, use ingredients from the store cupboard, garden and freezer as much as possible.

Good start. New Years Day we made the most of a brace of partridge given to us by a kindly benefactor.  Cooked following a Pru Leith recipe, with pears.  End result was delicious, well it should be. The birds were in perfect condition, cleanly shot and had been hung well.

Delicious served with mashed potato and home grown greens. Perfect start to the year
